This drink is inspired by the show Breaking Bad, and actually has heaps of variations! There is another classic blue drink called the Heisenberg as well, which is Gin based, whereas this one is Tequila. Both are delicious, and besides, who doesn’t love a blue drink!
What You’ll Need:
Glass: Wine Glass
Ingredients:
- Tequila
- Cointreau
- Fresh Lime Juice
Garnish: Agave and Salt Rim
Making the Drink:
This is the simplest version of this drink out there, others include a dash (usually 5ml) of Orgeat Syrup (an almond syrup).
- On separate plates, lay out the agave syrup and salt and rim the rocks glass
- Add 40ml Tequila to shaker
- Add 15ml Blue Curaçao
- Add 20ml Fresh Lime Juice
- Fill the shaker with ice
- Shake for 20 seconds
- Strain
- Serve and enjoy
Feeling Fancy?
To add an even cooler visual effect to this drink, you can make blue salt. To do this, you can get a certain collection of blue herbs and use a mortar and pestle to grind in with rock salt, or you can use food colouring. To use food colouring, put your salt and food dye in a Ziploc bag and adjust for how saturated you want the colour. Press ALL the air out (or your bag could explode!) and seal the bag, then mix and knead together.
