To fancy up the garnish for this drink, you can get all sorts of creative with apple slice garnishes! The options really are endless in creating flowers and swirls and all sorts of things! Just make sure you use a Granny Smith or a nice, sour green apple!

Quarantine Cocktails – Frozen Wine Slushy

This drink is super easy to mix and match with almost any fruit and any White Wine, and is PERFECT for Summer parties or hot days at home! You could get really creative with flavours in this one and mix all sorts of fruit in. It’s cheap, easy and delicious for any event or any day.

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Wine Glass

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • White Wine
  • Fruit as desired

Garnish: Fruit

Making the Drink:

The base is the same of fruit and Wine, but you can mix it up with this one!

  • Add 1/2 a blender of White Wine
  • Add 1 scoop of Ice
  • Add Fruit as desired
  • Blend until slushy
  • Garnish with fruit
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

Instead of just one fruit and White Wine, you can use really anything in this! A mix of basil and strawberry, or mango and passion fruit, or anything that goes well together! You could also freeze the mix and make ice cubes to have in a fruit punch for an extra flavour kick! There’s heaps you can do with this one!

Quarantine Cocktails – Dirty Pirate Popsicles

So this recipe originally called for popsicles where you can make this mix and use those trays to create icy poles from this. I don’t have that, and in true quarantine spirit I’m not leaving the house just to make popsicles, especially when it’s already freezing. Instead, I decided to try 3 other ways of using this mix!

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Highball Glass and Ice Tray

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 Cups of Cola
  • 2/3 Cup of Kahlúa
  • 2/3 Cup of Cinnamon Whisky or Spiced Rum

Garnish: (Optional: Coke Bottle Lollies)

Making the Drink:

The base is the same, but there’s a few ways to use this recipe after that.

  • Add 2 1/2 cups of Cola to mixing glass
  • Add 2/3 Cup of Kahlúa
  • Add 2/3 Cup of Cinnamon Whisky or Spiced Rum
  • Stir
  • Fill an empty ice tray with the mix
  • Let sit for 24 hours minimum

Option #1:

  • Keep as ice cubes and “eat” on a hot day!

Option #2:

  • Use the ice cubes in a drink of Cola or Rum and Coke to enhance flavour

Option #3:

  • Blend the ice cubes with some extra Cola and create a slushy

Feeling Fancy?

If you wanted to up this one even more, make an alcoholic spider! Add 2/3 Cup of Cream to the mix then freeze. Create your spider with Cola and ice cream and add your ice cubes to melt pure boozy goodness!

Quarantine Cocktails – Strawberry Basil Mule

There are countless versions of this on blogs or Pintrest, and all slightly varied but with the same core. This is a take on the Moscow Mule, a simple Vodka-Lime-Ginger Beer drink, and you could really any flavour into a Mule base and see how it turns out! This isn’t my first twist on a Mule, check out a Christmassy edition, the Mistletoe Mule.

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Copper Mug / Mule Cup

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Grenadine
  • Fresh Lime Juice
  • Strawberries
  • Basil Leaves
  • Ginger Beer / Alcoholic Ginger Beer

Garnish: Basil Sprig

Making the Drink:

This one takes a bit more time, but is TOTALLY worth it.

  • Fill Copper Mug with ice
  • Muddle 4-6 Strawberries in shaker until pureed
  • Squeeze 1/2 a Large Lime (30ml)
  • Bash (gently “clap” in your hands to release aroma and flavour) 8-10 basil leaves and muddle with strawberries
  • Don’t muddle the basil too much, this causes bitterness
  • Add 40ml of Vodka to Copper Mug
  • Fill with Ginger Beer
  • Stir to incorporate the mix
  • Garnish with a basil sprig
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

For another cool level to add to the garnish on this drink, get a whole strawberry and slice off the top. Then get your basil sprig, and push it in to mimic the strawberry leaves. This can be done with mint or other herbs used in bartending and has a really neat final product!

Quarantine Cocktails – Sex on the Beach

This simple Summer drink is actually IBA official, meaning the International Bartenders Association selected this for the WCC (World Cocktail Competition), which of course has been cancelled in 2020 like everything else. But that doesn’t stop you making this one at home!

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Highball Glass

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Peach Schnapps
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Orange Juice

Garnish: (Optional: Orange Slice)

Making the Drink:

This is another super easy to make one!

  • Add ice to the Highball glass
  • Add 20ml Vodka
  • Add 20ml Peach Schnapps
  • Add 50ml Cranberry Juice
  • Add 50ml Orange Juice
  • Garnish with a Orange Slice
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

There isn’t much to do with this classic and you wouldn’t want to mess with a classic! Check out this version by Tom Dyer!

Quarantine Cocktails – Dirty Shirley Temple

A Californian restaurant has claimed to be the origin of the classic Shirley Temple but there are other stories around too. Ironically, the actress with the namesake does not enjoy the mocktail, but was complaining as her parents had cocktails so the wait staff created this for her. Later she sued a soda company for trying to use the name, claiming “all a celebrity has is their name”. This one is an alcoholic version, hence “dirty”.

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Highball Glass

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Grenadine
  • Fresh Lime Juice
  • Ginger Beer / Alcoholic Ginger Beer

Garnish: (Optional: Maraschino Cherry)

Making the Drink:

This is a really straightforward mocktail-turned-cocktail.

  • Add ice to the Highball glass
  • Add 40ml Vodka
  • Add 15ml Grenadine
  • Add 7.5ml Fresh Lime Juice
  • Fill with Ginger Beer (I used alcoholic but this is optional)
  • Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

This mocktail-turned-cocktail is pretty simplistic but doesn’t need much more than that! To fancy this one up a bit, you could add the Grenadine last and drizzle it over the top to sink it like you would a Tequila or Vodka Sunrise, and watch the colour of red drip slowly to the bottom and through the drink for a cool visual appeal.

Quarantine Cocktails – Mars Bar Shot

This was another really cool flavour to work with and try and create, and a recipe for this doesn’t seem to be out there yet so hopefully this turns out okay! The recipe probably needs some caramel added, but if you try this let me know!

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Shot Glass

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Chocolate Irish Cream
  • Salted Caramel Irish Cream

Garnish: (Optional: Mini Mars Bar)

Making the Drink:

This is a really straightforward shaken shot.

  • Add 20ml Vodka to shaker
  • Add 20ml Chocolate Irish Cream
  • Add 20ml Salted Caramel Irish Cream
  • Fill the shaker with ice
  • Shake for 20 seconds
  • Strain
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

This shot would be really great with another Infused Vodka, this time with Mars Bars. To make this, get 500mls of Vodka, 200mls of Cream and about 5 regular Mars Bars (250grams). Melt the Mars Bars into the cream on a low heat, careful not to leave it sitting or it can burn. Once the mixture is smooth, take off the heat and add to Vodka in a spare bottle or jar. Shake it to incorporate and let sit overnight for the flavours to infuse.

Quarantine Cocktails – Bubblegum Shot

This was a really cool flavour to work with and try and create. The bubblegum essence is actually for icing so adds to the smell heaps but too much would make this taste bitter! You could replace the Banana Puree with Banana Liqueur and this would work in a similar way.

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Shot Glass

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Banana Puree
  • Blue Curaçao
  • Bubblegum Essence

Garnish: (Optional: Bubblegum Piece)

Making the Drink:

This is a really straightforward shaken shot.

  • Add 20ml Vodka to shaker
  • Add 20ml Banana Puree
  • Add 20ml Blue Curaçao
  • Add a Cap Full of Bubblegum Essence
  • Fill the shaker with ice
  • Shake for 20 seconds
  • Strain
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

This shot would have even more of a bubblegum hit with an infused Vodka. To create a Bubblegum infused Vodka, find some preferably blue bubblegum, and a spare jar. Fill with jar with Vodka and the gum and shake it around ever 5 hours, leaving it to sit and infuse overnight. The next day, strain the gum from the Vodka and you’ve got Bubblegum Vodka!

Quarantine Cocktails – Milo Oreo Milkshake

Someone suggested to me for this series I do a Milo or an Oreo drink… I figured, why not do both in one? This drink is DEFINITELY for the chocolate lovers out there. Even though it has Kahlúa in it, this doesn’t taste like coffee but gives it a great break from all the sweetness and creates balance.

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Milkshake Glass (I chose to use a Hurricane Glass)

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Irish Cream
  • Kahlúa
  • Oreos
  • Milo
  • Milk

Garnish: Milo and an Oreo

Making the Drink:

This one is super easy… The hardest part is cleaning the blender!

  • Fill your glass of choice about 2/3 of the way with Milk
  • Add 45ml Vodka to blender
  • Add 45ml Irish Cream
  • Add 45ml Kahlúa
  • Add 7 Oreos
  • Add 2 Heaped teaspoons of Milo
  • Pour the Milk in
  • Add 1 Scoop of Ice
  • Blend
  • Pour into glass of choice
  • Garnish with Milo Powder on top and an Oreo on the side
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

To make this drink even more boozy chocolaty deliciousness, you could grab some chocolate or caramel syrup and run it inside and around the rim of the glass for a cool milkshake effect!

Quarantine Cocktails – Ramos Gin Fizz

During isolation people are getting bored. What better way to start off a series of cocktail out of boredom, than by starting with one traditionally shaken for 20 minutes! Originally called the New Orleans Fizz, the Ramos Gin Fizz dates back to 1888 and is probably New Orleans most famous cocktail.

What You’ll Need:

Glass: Highball Glass

Ingredients:

  • Gin
  • Cream
  • Sugar Syrup
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Fresh Lime Juice
  • Egg White
  • Orange Bitters
  • Soda Water

Garnish: (Optional: Orange Slice)

Making the Drink:

This trick means you DON’T have to shake for 20 minutes!

  • Put chilled water and some ice in the Highball glass and set aside
  • Add 60ml Gin to shaker
  • Add 30ml Cream
  • Add 30ml Sugar Syrup
  • Add 15ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Add 15ml Fresh Lime Juice
  • REVERSE dry shake (so, shake the ingredients together with ice) for 20 seconds
  • Fine strain and discard ice
  • Add Egg White
  • Dry shake (so, no ice) for 40 seconds
  • Discard water from Highball
  • Pour (no need to strain, you’ll lose foam!) into Highball glass
  • WAIT for one minute
  • Pour COLD Soda Water right into the middle
  • If you’ve done this right, the foam will rise above the glass and not spill, and could hold a straw upright without it leaning! Even my metal straw!
  • Add dashes of Orange Bitters or Orange Flower Water on top
  • Serve and enjoy

Feeling Fancy?

Showing someone you can make a drink that foams above a glass is already pretty amazing… But if you wanted to fancy up this drink even more an Orange Slice garnish on top can add a pop of colour!
